Matt has appeared in numerous plays in Palmerston North including Mort, The Bowler Hat, Lysistra, The One After the Last Goon Show, Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and other Festival of New Arts and MUDS productions. He played Romeo in 2008’s Summer Shakespeare and was recently seen as Claude in Worse Things Happen at Sea, and in Nearly There for the Festival of New Arts.
He says that Summer Shakespeare is a great experience, Shakespearean language is fun to work with, and he loves working in the Esplanade.
Jess has performed in school and Massey productions, as well as studying Shakespeare. She has also studied drama, both at Massey and at Dram School in Napier. She loved her recent paper at Massey, particularly meeting and acting with new people and finds acting a thrill and experience she is keen to continue with it. She thinks you should see the show, because it’s a great chance to see the play performed in an outside environment, and because Shakespeare’s plays are great for everyone.
Nic has appeared in the last two Summer Shakespeare productions and has played roles in The Taming of the Shrew, As You Like It, The 15 Minute Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. He has also been known to indulge in musical theatre.
Danu was involved with performing both poetry and drama at the recent Festival of New Arts and has recently finished the Drama in Performance paper. She is joining us for Summer Shakespeare to develop her skills, encounter new experiences and try a different form of theatre, and thinks you should all come along for a magical experience of nature and theatre combined. She is also the mother of our smallest fairy.
